Our love story began in 1997 in Connecticut. We met when Stephanie was a freshman in college and Walt was a US Navy sailor, fresh out of boot camp. We were young, single, and ready to mingle when we met at a dance club on the Naval base. Things flourished quickly as we both felt like we’d known each other for a lifetime. After a little over a year of dating Walt got orders to Virginia and Stephanie decided to take a chance on love and move with him!

We eloped in 1999 and “officially” began our life together. We were crazy in love, ready to conquer the world, and so naïve of the challenges we’d need to overcome to have a successful marriage. In 2004, after a couple of military moves and some adventure together, we celebrated our first daughter being born and boy did our lives change! Creating our little family was incredible and everything we’d ever wanted so we decided to bring another daughter into the world in 2006.

Recognizing the challenges posed by military deployments and frequent moves, we decided Stephanie would be the anchor, managing our home and caring for our children. Walt’s dedication paid off, propelling him to become a Naval Intelligence Officer after a decade of service and after a commendable 20-year stint in the Navy, he transitioned to a thriving corporate career.

But our story doesn’t stop there. After five fulfilling years in the corporate world, we turned our focus to a shared passion – nurturing relationships. This led to the creation of the Legacy Driven Marriages podcast, aimed at helping couples thrive. Oh, and keep an eye out, because a book and a workshop are in the works!

Now, after an incredible 26 years side by side, we’ve weathered nine moves, three career shifts, and raised two amazing kids. It hasn’t always been easy – we’ve faced pain, struggles, and heartaches, but we’re convinced that challenges are what give life purpose. Our hardships have shaped us, and through them, we’ve learned how to rescue relationships. We’re living proof that choosing love, against all odds, can craft something extraordinary that lasts through generations.
